It has a fine built with great specs at a great price. The Find 5 is perhaps the first Oppo phone to really emerge in the market. Duarte described the true goal of mobile platform is to have a seamless experience when changing from a device to another and it is exactly the way where Apple is going right now.Īfter pretty much failed with their campaign for Oppo N1 which had a flipping camera, Oppo took one step backward and looked at their success with the previous phones such as Find 5. This concept of integrated environment is exactly like what Matias Duarte described on an interview with The Verge’s Editor in Chief Joshua Topolsky at 2014 Accel Design Conference ( ). This feature enabled users to continue session from one device into another device seamlessly. The very powerful feature introduced in this release is the Handoff and Airdrop feature which promises continuity in Apple environment between iPhone, iPad and Mac. In my opinion, although Apple said to release a huge update on both platforms, only few features are actually essential, others are just ‘nice to have’ feature which mostly already available on Android. The new Mac OS is called OS X Yosemite while the mobile iOS is getting the new iOS 8. It’s WWDC 2014 and Apple has announced its new Operating System for both the Mac and mobile platform. There are still a long way to go for the developers to finally found the right formula for a curved screen to enhance life. But the exploration of the application for the curved screen has yet to mature. In the end, I believe that Samsung’s bold effort to start the curved screen display is worth an applause. It is more like Samsung is trying to manipulate us the consumers to be their guinea pig for market test. Although I had to admit this is more useful than the one on gear S, again I believe this curved display has not been used to its full potential. In this device, the curved screen lies on the right side of the screen showing various things from time, sport score ticker, alarm etc. The prototype of this device has been around for some time, but they just made it commercial on IFA 2014. The second device to have the curved screen is the Galaxy Note Edge. They put a keyboard on the big but still small screen to reply for messages which is very difficult to touch especially for those who has big fingers. They implemented the hardware wonderfully, but failed to nail it at the software section. But the problem is that the way Samsung used the big screen is just hilarious. The curved screen at the Gear S enables the watch to have a bigger screen by bending the screen along the curve of our hands which is a great ergonomics boost to the watch. The Gear S is stunningly good looking with the big curved screen. Samsung did their research well on how should they use their curved AMOLED display especially on Gear S.
